homestuck is generally referred to as a webcomic, but it has videos, games, and interactive elements in it! it originally started as an interactive "game" between the author (andrew hussie) and the audience. hussie would draw a panel, and then users would submit an action for a specific character, and hussie would draw the next panel based on that. because of this, most of the early parts are mostly just messing around. At around act 5, hussie stopped taking requests and continued the plot by himself.
the plot (which is more like plots, plural.) centers around 4 kids: john egbert, jade harley, dave strider, and rose lalonde. they play a game called sburb which is sort of a cross between the sims and jumanji, as in the server player (player 1) can interact with player 2s environment as if player 2 was their "sim."

this game causes the end of the world [ sorry earth! :( ] and the rest of the story follows these kids, and more characters, as they try to beat the game. beating sburb means they get to create a new universe and rule over it as gods.
